Our Method

Bold Diary is a research site, not a testing lab. We don't operate machines or run abrasion rigs, and we never claim to. What we do is read carefully, compare sources and show our arithmetic. Every recommendation has to survive the same three-layer process:

1. Manufacturer specifications first

We start with what the maker actually documents: material composition, dimensions, hardware suppliers, care instructions. We read the product page, the spec sheet and the care guide. Where a brand makes a specific claim — a denier rating, a leather grade, a capacity in litres — we quote it as the brand's claim, and we check it against the product's own photos and manual.

2. Attributed third-party review

For products we recommend, we look for professional reviews that performed real measurements or long-term use, and we cite them by name. If a magazine weighed a tote or a reviewer put 40,000 miles on a backpack, we say who did. Claims we can't trace to a named source don't go in.

3. Aggregated owner feedback

Long-term owners see what a reviewer can't: how the lining wears at month eight, whether the zipper slider loosens. We read large volumes of verified owner reviews and forums, and we report patterns — not individual anecdotes. When owners consistently contradict a brand's claim, we say so.

What we don't do

• We don't publish first-person lab claims we can't back.
• We don't invent prices — quoted prices reflect what the seller's page showed when we checked, and prices change.
• We don't rate products with star scores we can't source.
• We don't take payment for coverage, and we don't run sponsored posts.

Corrections

When we get something wrong, we fix the entry and move its "Updated" date. Spotted an error? Tell us — corrections are checked and applied within a few days.
